After twelve weeks of learning, challenges, perseverance and pushing their limits, the time had come to celebrate a journey that will leave a lasting mark on the lives of many women.
The closing ceremony of the first edition of the SHECODE Upskill programme was not simply the end of a training course. It symbolised the fulfilment of a vision: enabling girls and women to acquire digital skills capable of transforming their future.
Twelve weeks to build skills
Launched with the ambition of boosting women’s employability through digital technology, the SHECODE Upskill programme brought together around fifty participants across three training tracks:
- Web Development
- Data Analytics
- Digital Business & Growth
For twelve weeks, participants followed hands-on training, benefited from the support of trainers and tutors, worked on projects and developed skills they can apply directly in the professional world.
Beyond technical knowledge, they learned to solve problems, to collaborate, to communicate and to believe more in their own potential.
A ceremony to celebrate each journey
The closing ceremony was designed as a moment of recognition. And above all, of experience.
It highlighted the effort, discipline and commitment shown by participants and trainers throughout the programme.
Receiving a certificate meant much more than a piece of paper.
It was the symbol of weeks of work, sacrifices, self-questioning and progress.
Every smile, every round of applause and every testimony was a reminder of a simple truth: behind every certificate stands a woman who chose to invest in herself.
Presenting the impact of this first edition
The event was also an opportunity to share the programme’s results.
In just a few months, SHECODE showed that an initiative driven by conviction could deliver real impact.
The first cohort trained around fifty women in digital careers, with remarkable progress in each of the tracks offered. Several projects were born, others were significantly improved, and they were presented with courage in front of the audience.
Beyond the figures, it was above all the participants’ growth that made an impression: more self-confidence, a better command of digital tools, completed projects and a clearer vision of their professional future.
A growing community
The ceremony brought together participants, trainers, partners, mentors, guests of honour and members of the SHECODE community.
Their presence reflected a collective commitment to the inclusion of women in digital careers.
This diversity of stakeholders is a reminder of an obvious truth: guiding women towards Tech careers is a responsibility we build together.
Every partner, every speaker and every supporter helps to create an environment in which they can succeed.
The beginning of a new adventure
For the participants, this ceremony is not a finishing line.
It is the starting point of a new chapter. Some will go on to specialise, others will join companies, launch their own projects or, in turn, support other women.
This is how real impact is born: when a woman who has been trained becomes, in turn, a source of inspiration and opportunity for others.
The first edition of the SHECODE Upskill programme has come to an end, but SHECODE’s mission continues. Because our ambition is not only to train women for digital careers. Our ambition is to train women who, tomorrow, will build digital Africa, inspire future generations and prove that with the right skills, no dream is out of reach.
