18 December 2025 will remain a founding date in the history of SHECODE.
On that day, what had until then been a vision carried with conviction became a reality. More than 70 girls and women came to Yaoundé to take part in the association’s very first official launch event: the SHECODE Kick-off.
Beyond a simple launch ceremony, the gathering marked the start of a collective adventure, driven by a strong ambition: to make digital technology a real lever for women’s empowerment, employability and financial freedom.
A conviction that became a mission
With SHECODE, we start from a simple observation: despite the many opportunities offered by digital technology, women are still under-represented in Tech careers.
Limited access to specialised training, a lack of visible female role models, self-censorship and stereotypes continue to hold back their participation.
And yet digital is one of the most dynamic sectors in the world today. It creates new jobs, transforms businesses and offers career prospects to anyone who develops the right skills.
SHECODE was born of this conviction: no woman should be left out of this revolution.
More than 70 women united by the same dream
From the first hours of the Kick-off, a special energy filled the room.
Students, recent graduates, professionals changing careers, entrepreneurs or simply women curious to discover the digital world… they all had one thing in common: the desire to discover and to learn.
For several hours, participants discovered SHECODE’s vision, its values and the different actions it would carry out. It was also an opportunity to talk with digital professionals who came to share their experiences, their journeys and their advice.
Beyond the presentations, it was above all the hopeful faces, the questions, the conversations and the ambitions voiced that gave the day its true value.
The start of a wonderful story
With more than 70 participants at this first gathering, the SHECODE Kick-off confirmed that there was real demand for training women in digital careers.
This turnout also strengthened our responsibility: to keep offering quality training, to build a caring community and to support every participant in her professional development.
A few months later, this first cohort would give rise to the SHECODE Upskill programme, train dozens of women in Web Development, Data Analytics and Digital Business & Growth, and lay the first foundations of a community that keeps on growing.
An adventure that is only just beginning
18 December 2025 was not just the launch of an association.
It was the starting point of a movement led by women who chose to believe in their potential and to dare to go digital.
At SHECODE, we are convinced that every skill acquired is an opportunity created, every woman trained is a source of inspiration for another, and every new cohort brings us closer to an Africa where women take their full place in innovation and technology.
