Tackling online violence

Recognising, preventing and reporting cyberbullying to stay safe online.

TACKLING ONLINE VIOLENCE, Recognising, preventing and reporting cyberbullying to stay safe online.

Insults, threats, identity theft, sharing images without consent: online violence particularly affects women and girls, and drives many of them away from digital spaces. This programme gives them the means to recognise it, protect themselves and take action.

Staying safe online, acting together

Sessions first help participants name digital violence and understand its effects, then take back control: adjusting account privacy settings, limiting what they share, blocking and reporting a harasser, keeping evidence of harmful content. Real-life cases teach how to respond, for yourself or for a friend.

The programme also presents the options available: reporting to platforms, support from associations, steps to take with the relevant authorities. Participants who wish can train to become ambassadors in their school, neighbourhood or association, and raise awareness among those around them in turn.

What our

says about SHECODE.

I did not know I could report an account that was harassing me. Now I know how to respond and who to turn to.
